Chinoiserie Sideboard Makeover

Sharing is caring!

In these quick guides, I walk through the steps and products I used for a particular makeover. Interested in learning more about a particular step or process? Check out the links at the bottom of this post where I go into greater detail on each step.

Steps I took to create this look:

  1. Cleaned the entire piece with degreaser
  2. Scuff sanded glossy factory finish with 150 grit sandpaper and my SurfPrep sander
  3. Filled the existing hardware holes with Kwikwood and sanded smooth
  4. Primed with a bonding primer
  5. Painted in the color Vagabond Blue by Melange Paints
  6. Sealed with General Finishes High Perfomance Top Coat in Flat and my favorite top coating brush
  7. Drilled new hardware holes using a Kreg Hardware Jig to measure
  8. Lined drawers with paper provided by the client to match their walls
  9. Added new hardware (from CB2 and no longer available – here is something similar)
